Binggrae Banana MIlk Advert (Mint Lab)

Full Pipeline

I was approached by a returning client for a 3D promo for Binggrae Singapore, they had the preproduction already mostly done with ideas already laid out and had asked me to produce the final render for them.

Concepting in this project was minimal, mostly from storyboarding and some character conversion before they gave me the main idea. They already had a storyboard when they came looking for me but I reframed it to suit the 3D scope and what I could handle at that point in time given the time constraints and resources.

During the production, what had to be custom made was the Binggrae Character and the drink packaging, all of which was done by hand to fit what the client wants. Textures were sent by the client so I didn't need to photo bash them together so that was great. However, things did not go smoothly, and some roadblocks were bound to happen. One major flaw I have is that I could not do liquid simulations super well with Blender and I didn't know if FLIP fluids could be used for smaller scale simulations at that time so we had to opt for a fake approach where we pause time, scale it up and make it move a little to make it seem like juice, I'm very thankful for the client in this case.

Post processing was relatively easy and straight forward, as I had planned for what to use in advanced — mainly the shadow pass and AO pass — for compositing in After Effects, so no major hiccups here.

Along the way, there were changes and additional deliverables like renderings for sticker packs which I had to engage a friend of mine to do, appreciate her very much, as this was during a very busy week for the both of us.
